Avatar The legend of Korra Update #1

I know its been forever and ever since I last did an entry. I’ve realised I’ve been slacking. Theres been so much going on. However I have been watching a few shows. So hopefully I’ll get my thoughts on WP sooner than later.

Anyways I thought I would do a quick entry on The Legend of  Korra (since this is one of the number one reasons why people find/ look at my site).  I made my brother watch Avatar with me (since we got netflix) he wasn’t sure what to watch and I suggested Avatar. Well like most he watched the first episode thought it was ok but by the time he hit the 3-5th episodes he knew he found something good.  Anyways this sort of reawakened my love for the show again and I started doing Korra research. There really isn’t that much out there HOWEVER, I did find a line test that was done in Korea (if you didn’t know already the animation is done in Korea) it’s just a quick fight scene but it looks pretty damn good.

Anyways you all ENJOY!

Itazura na Kiss

Title: イタズラなKiss
Title (romaji): Itazura na Kiss
Also known as: Teasing Kiss / Naughty Kiss
Genre: Romantic comedy, school
Episodes: 9
Broadcast network: TV Asahi
Broadcast period: 1996-Oct-14 to 1996-Dec-16
Air time: Monday 20:00
Related TV shows: It Started with a Kiss, Mischievous Kiss

I watched this about a year ago and forgot to write my thoughts about it. I still remember it so I don’t have to re-watch it.

The story starts off with Aihara Kotoko running into Irie Naoki, and accidently kissing him on his lips. From that moment on Kotoko started to like him /love him. On his end he felt disgusted at first and didn’t care about it afterwards. But when Kotoko’s house burns down Aihara Shigeo her father and herself move in with the fathers close friend Irie Machiko and Irie Yuki. You’ve probably guessed already that Irie Noaki is actually their son. So they all live together. Kotoko wants to do whatever she can to change his mind about her and slowly through the 9 episodes she succeeds.

Um for 9 episodes I suppose its worth a watch. Its not like you have to dedicate a lot of your time to watch it, but that doesn’t mean that I thought it was good by any means. We have to remember that this is 1996 so its not as great as the new stuff and since I have no other dramas I can compare it to from 1996. Its kind of on a league of its own. Regardless of the time period or the shortness of episodes, all the other versions of watched (never read the manga) I hated. I don’t like the girl, I don’t like the guy I don’t like how he treats her. I don’t like how she can’t get over him. I hate everyone except for her friend that interested in her. Just the whole series all of them, I really hate them all. BOOO

anyways for what it is I give it 3/10 for entertainment value    .5/5 on the awwness scale.. BOO.

Sailor Moon Season 1 English/ Japanese

So I know its been forever, but I’m finally done the first season of Sailor Moon in English and Japanese.

Sailor Moon has always been one of my favorite child hood memories. The English version airing September 11, 1995 on YTV in Canada. This was an instant hit with me. I loved it, I was 10 and this really started my obsession with Anime…

So what’s sailor moon about. Long ago, Princes Serena from the moon kingdom fell in love with Prince Darien from the earth. It was a peaceful time until Queen Beryl and her followers Decide to take over the moon Kingdom. Darien protects Princess Serena, but he gets captured by queen Beryl as she wants him for her own Dark Kingdom. Serena follows him and they both end up getting captured by queen Beryl. Queen Serenity sees her daughter and her friends being captured and decides to used the Imperium silver crystal to transfer her daughter, Prince Darien, the sailor soldiers; Mercury, Venus, mars, Jupiter, and her two cat companions; Luna and  Artemis to a new time so they can live again. to do this she has to trap also queen Beryl and her followers. Using this power queen Serenity faints and we assume she dies. Everyone gets transferred to modern day Tokyo. Where Serena a clumsy dumb, cry baby, who acts nothing like a princess becomes sailor moon, when Luna finds her and tells her queen Beryl has risen again. Slowly she and the sailor scouts Mercury Venus Mars Jupiter and tuxedo mask prince  Darien are all awakened to fight against the revived evil.

Some Major Differences between the Japanese and English version.

1. The names Serena is Usagi in the Japanese, personally I like it better. Also her name is Princess Serenity. Not Princess Serena. Darien’s name is Mamoru, I like this better as well. His Prince name is Endymion. Its ok I guess. Litas name is Makoto.

2. English version they changed Serena’s voice to much, and its wayyyyyy annoying. I really like the Japanese voice actor Kotono Mitsuishi, but honestly if she were the voice actor in English I think it would be annoying. The first girl in the first ep had the best voice to Serena in the English version. Darien’s voice is annoying too! Mamoru so much better.

3. They say die a lot in the Japanese version and I think I only heard it once in the English version.

4. They cut a so many sense out in the English version. Some scene that don’t even matter and others like the the last episode which is actually two ep in Japanese.

5. There is five episodes that they never aired in English, ep2. “Punish Them! The House of Fortune is the Monster Mansion”, ep 5. “A Monster’s Scent! Chanela Steals Love”, ep 6. “Protect the Melody of Love! Usagi is a Cupid”, ep 20 “The Summer! The Ocean! Our Youth! And a Ghost, Too”, ep 42. “Sailor Venus’ Past, Minako’s Tragic Love”. Not to mention the last episode 40, which is actually ep 45 and 46 in Japanese together.

6. Ep 18 22 in Japanese. they cut a out the best scene where Tuxedo Mask is dancing with Serena and they fall off the Balcony, the English version pretend that they got back onto the balcony and ran down stairs but really they both fell off the balcony and landed using and umbrella. WHY DID THEY REMOVE THAT, That was the bestest part ever!.

6. The last episode in Japanese Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, Mars die protecting Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon wants to give up but gets a vision of her friends that gives her courage and she continues on. She gets taken to Queen Beryl and there Prince Endymion tries to destroy her he strangles her electrocutes her, and kicks her she gets him back but soon after dies in sailor moons arms after protecting her from queen Beryl blows. Queen Beryl disappears as Prince Endymion has hit her before he goes goes down. You have scene where Usagi is about to kiss Endimyon but doesn’t She then faces Beryl and realizes that she’s going to have to destroy herself with the crystal to defeat Beryl. She does everyone is dead including usagi, but usagis dream to become a normal girl gets made into a reality due to the crystal and they are all reborn in their same lives with out a memory of their battle with queen Beryl and Queen matali, which is called the Negaforce in the english version.

Got to say the last ep was SOOOOO much better in Japanese if you haven’t watched sailor moon in Japanese yet do yourself a favor and watch it now! 10/10/// 100/100 soo good!

Devil Beside You

Title: 惡魔在身邊 / E Mo Zai Shen Bian
Also known as: Devil Beside You, Devils Do Exist
Genre: Romance, comedy
Episodes: 14 (TV Broadcast), 20 (DVD)
Broadcast network: CTV
Broadcast period: 2005-Jun-25 to 2005-Sep-18
Air time: Sunday 22:00-23:30

Devil beside you… to tell you I had no interest in watching this at all. The only reason why I started was because of Adult Child and someone on YouTube. They made a MV using the song with clips from Devil Beside You. I watched it and I decided I might as well give it a shot.

It revolves around a girl named Qi Yue she decides to confess her feelings to Sang Yuan Yi, but as she goes to confess she doesn’t look and confesses to someone else a boy named Jiang Meng. Jiang Meng is the schools devil the trouble maker she quickly realizes that its the wrong person and makes sure he understands that she wasn’t confessing to him. Unknown to her at the time Qi Yue is his target, he wants her. By a twist of fate Qi Yu finds out that her mother has fallen for a man and they are going to get married, that man is none other then Jiang Mengs father. As time progresses Qi Yue sees softer sides Jiang Mengs. Regardless of this devilish reputation she sees he is actually very kind and caring in his own way.

I’m not exactly sure how I liked it. It was good, maybe a little to gooshy mooshy lovey dovey kind of stuff. If your into forceful romances then maybe this is for you. The production quality is terrible for 2005 but I noticed a lot of Chinese shows were not very good quality Rainie Yang is just annoying I think she plays every character the same not a very talented actress as far as the shows I’ve watched. Altogether it was pretty boring and to be honest I probably wont watch it again. I get how it could be popular, but maybe not my cup of tea. I give it a 4/10….ya its just below average which I think is still pretty good.

Avatar: The Legend of Korra

Nickelodeon in May 2010 has announced that a mini series, a sequel if you will, to the last Air Bender… in May I was just getting out of the series and finished watching all three season. I had no idea this was going on. Before the actual M night Shamalam The last air Bender disaster movie came out more information was leaked. The new show is called Avatar: The legend of Korra. The series will be released sometime in 2011.

75 years after Aangs Avatar adventure Korra is the next Avatar from the Southern Water Tribe. Korra is “a rebellious girl who is hotheaded, independent and “ready to take on the world”. Apparently Korra is looking for Tenzin, Aang and Kataras child to teach her the last element which is Airbending. She heads to a placed called Republic City, all four nations live in this one city after 75 years things have changed in the Avatar world but the creators tried to keep the same feel as the original Avatar. “Here Korra must deal with rampant crime and an anti-bender revolt.”

“The show will be darker and more mature than the original show, though the creators are not trying to target a new audience (saying the original was filled with adult themes), with more mature themes, but will also try to balance it out with a similar sense of fun and adventure of the original series.”

Personal Preference -Personal Trial

Title: 개인의 취향 / Kaeinui Chwihyang
Also known as: Kae In’s Taste / Personal Taste
Genre: Romance, comedy
Episodes: 16
Broadcast network: MBC
Broadcast period: 2010-Mar-31 to 2010-May-20
Air time: Wednesday & Thursday 21:55

Lee Min-ho!.. Enough said. Probably the sexiest – most good looking Korean I’ve seen! I liked this series specially the first half its really super funny.

The story starts off with Park Kae In an almost 30 year old woman who trusts everyone and gives many many chances even when they have betrayed her. Her boyfriend, Han Chang Ryul, of a month has just broke up with her and fallen in love with her room mate, Kim In Hee, and they are getting married the next day. There’s is a young man named Jeon Jin Ho who is in a architectural competition and finds out that Park Kae In’s house (the one her father built-famous architect)  blue pints could help him win the contest. By a series of unfortunate/ fortunate events he moves in with Park Kae In, as she thinks he is gay. Park Kae In accidently causes trouble at Kim In Hee’s  and Han Chang Ryual wedding which causes them to break up and Han Chang Ryual realizes that Kim In Hee is a terrible person he tries to sincerely  go back with Park Kae. To complicate matters Jeon Jin Ho and Han Chang Ryual are rivals in the architectural world as well as the love world especially when Jeon Jin Ho realizes while helping Park Kae In get over Change Ryual that he has developed feelings for her and Park Kae In is torn with her feelings for Jeon Jin Ho since she ‘knows’ he is gay and nothing could ever happen between them

Like any drama there’s so much drama you get lost in what exactly what’s going on, just from the sheer volume of drama going on. So much drama…. But the funny parts were good funny really funny actually the first half you laugh, I laughed it was good. Second part is when the real hard core drama starts happening. The one scene that got on my nerves the most was when Park Kae In cried her…..biggest cry. I guess you could say and the camera was shaking all over the place…that was a minor thing but it just really bugged me. Also I feel very very sorry for the director Choi who is gay and had fallen for Jeon Jin Ho, but obviously that couldn’t happen he was the only caring stable person in the whole thing…a hopeless romantic. Poor guy. and you just feel really sorry for Park Kae In someone so sweet in and innocent and caring shouldn’t be treated the way she was treated but nice guys/girls. finish last….

I give it a 4/5 would I watch it again …probably not it was a one time watch kind of thing. Not like Bof or Coffee Prince or Fated to love you or Meteor Showers. I could watch those over and over again!

You’re Beautiful

Title: 미남이시네요 / Minami Shineyo
Also known as: He’s Beautiful / You’re Handsome
Genre: Romance, comedy
Episodes: 16
Broadcast Network: SBS
Broadcast period: 2009-Oct-07 to 2009-Nov-26
Air time: Wednesday & Thursday 21:55

This was such a cute show, a little slow but worth the watch. It was funny and cute I like all the characters and it was very smooth. The group famous music A.Njell has just added a new singer to the group to help out with the main vocals of – Hwang Tae Kyung. Due to his managers stupidity Mi Nam (the new singer) needs to go secretly to the states to fix his eyes from bad surgery done in Korea. His twin sister Mi Nyu who is a nun has now been coursed into helping out her brother and posing as him secretly until his recover and return home. Eventually two of the group members find out that she is a girl. One Kang Shin Woo doesn’t tell her that he knows and the other Hwang Tae Kyung figures it out in front of her. Kang Shin Woo begins to secretly like Mi Nyu and Mi Nyu starts to like Hwang Tae Kyung. Jeremy even gets thrown in in the love triangle…sort of…square I guess because he starts liking Mi Nyu but he still thinks she’s a guy and tries to hide it.

I love the love triangles and the main character, basically everyone in this show I just love except for Mi Nam (the boy twin)…Hwang Tae Kyungs mother and Yoo He Yi. The only thing Park Shin Hye is to cute to be a boy even when she was just pretending.

Yay I give this 4/5 in awwwwww… I like it. :)
